Laura Tolhoek is an experienced Human Resources professional. She is the owner of Essential HR, which works with small businesses to implement HR strategies that attract and retain the best talent.
For over 15 years, Laura has used sound HR practices with a pragmatic approach to improve business performance. She has worked with some of the restaurant's most prominent players, food service, and the retail world as an integral member of the HR team. Laura is a Certified Human Resource Leader (CHRL) through the Human Resources Professional Association (HRPA).
She enjoyed a successful career in corporate HR before launching her own business.
Laura lives in St Catharines, Ontario, Canada (near Niagara Falls).
In her spare time, Laura enjoys the company of her husband and two children. On a summer day, you will find her on a softball diamond, gardening, or cheering on the Blue Jays. She is also a big fan of HGTV. She appreciates all sorts of travel, provided it in no way resembles camping.
